At SDC, low-cost is not low quality, and our delivery record speaks for itself. We provide quality built homes to provide dignified dwellings for the vulnerable members of our society.
Subsidy housing is intended for families earning below R3 500 per month. Various entities funded by Government are mandated to provide a subsidy for housing to the poorest of the poor. Through this subsidy, beneficiaries acquire a stand and a housing unit with a minimum acceptable size of 40 square metres. National Government determines the amount available for the housing subsidy annually.
The Constitution enshrines the right of all South Africans to have access to adequate housing, and Government must take reasonable measures within its available resources to achieve the progressive realisation of this right.
In response, Government introduced a variety of National Housing Subsidy Programmes that provide the poor and low- to middle-income households with access to adequate housing. Among these programmes, the Finance Linked Individual Subsidy Programme (“FLISP”) is specifically intended for the market segment that does not qualify for a home loan but exceeds the maximum limit applicable to access Government’s ‘free basic house’ subsidy scheme. This market segment, generally known as the ‘affordable/gap’ market, earns between R3,501 and R15,000 per month. Households in this segment, if buying a home for the first time, may apply for a FLISP subsidy.
We are well positioned to assist beneficiaries through the FLISP process and support them in securing a house.
